A Red Sun Rises (2021) was created and exhibited in Strength and Sexuality, a duo show with Stormy Bradley at Arts Underground.
“If you didn't know already, I am a complete Lord of the Rings nerd. I love the books, the lore, the films (except the Hobbit series, yuck), and the Tolkien culture that comes with it. I even took a class in university dedicated to studying the world of Middle Earth. One of my favourite lines in the Two Towers (film) is Legolas, son of Thranduil, saying “A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night.” He, of course, was referring to war and death but it translates to periods well enough. This piece is part of a series of “Period Pillows.””
Materials: seed beads, melton, hide (cow), batting, nylon thread
